FOAA welcomes your interest in the archaeology of Alexandria, Virginia, and your support and involvement. When you become a Friend of Alexandria Archaeology* through a tax-deductible annual membership, you can learn, become part of a welcoming community, and support the preservation of the past for future generations!

  • "Digging in with FOAA," an e-newsletter with updates about volunteer activities, upcoming events, reports or projects, and articles on Alexandria history and archaeology (you may also subscribe on the FOAA Home page)

FOAA Members volunteer for activities that fit their interests and schedules, such as:

  • Lab work to conserve found objects

  • Archival research by researching and writing about diaries, old newspapers, and other primary sources

  • Explaining the museum collection to school children and other visitors

  • Raising the visibility of the museum at the annual George Washington Birthday Parade, Market Days, and other community events

  • Advocating for support of archaeology with officials and the public

* Purchases of FOAA memberships are administered through the City of Alexandria’s “Shop” site to enable application of the 15% museum shop merchandise discount, a FOAA membership benefit. Proceeds from all FOAA membership purchases are conveyed to FOAA.
